“Fables” a show of paintings by Paul Kane
Opening October 4th

“Fables” is a show of paintings by Paul Kane, sponsored by The Venue, in Bloomington, Indiana, during October 2013, based on characters drawn from classic stories. A drunken Silenus seems to debate the nature of reality with a floating Buddha; a brave Knight attacks a startled Sendack-ian Monster; a weary Neptune, perhaps worn down by pollution, attempts to raise up one last storm: ancient though they are, such characters might be visible between busy moments in our world today.

EL Norteno

Exhibit featuring the work of Richelle Brown
Opening Oct 4th

Día de los Muertos (“Day of the Dead”) is a holiday focused on remembering the dead, but it is meant to be a jubilant rather than a macabre occasion.  A calavera is any artistic expression of a skull and is one of the main symbols associated with the festivities.  This exhibit consists of a series of calaveras meant to convey a range of emotions.  Come and ruminate on life.  Hay más tiempo que vida. (“Life is short; seize the moment.”) Richelle Brown uses an array of mediums to express different emotions.  Residing in Bloomington, she is an artist, educator, and counselor who values diversity
