Gather-SFW1Gather

Opening Reception : Daydreams & Grand Desires :bridal gowns from Liby Ball

Gather is pleased to present our very first Gallery featuring textile work in the form of custom bridal gowns from local seamstress extraordinaire;Liby Ball – Sewing and Design Studio. Just in time for the month of Love – we cannot wait to let you in on the secret that is the work of Liby Ball!!

———–
Artist Statement:
Personal style is just that—personal. Working almost exclusively in formal wear, Liby Ball has the honor of playing an intimate role in some of the most important moments of people’s lives. Her work allows her the pleasure, and often, the challenge, of bringing daydreams and grand desires into the physical world. Liby’s mission is to provide every client (regardless of shape/size/gender/etc.) the opportunity to express their individuality through a statement of fashion. These designs are the compromises reached between the requirements set by the clients and her own personal aesthetic.

Bio:
Liby Ball started sewing at the age of 7. At age 15, Liby excelled in her high school’s theatre department as a costume designer, winning several medals for her designs in state championships before her graduation in 2003. Liby was certified as an Alterations Specialist by David’s Bridal in 2004, and was promoted to Alterations Manager in 2011. In 2012, Liby quit David’s Bridal to start her own sewing business, Liby Ball Sewing & Design, in order to provide customers with more options, in both price and styling. Her focus is on hard-to-fit clients (plus size, athletic build, transgender-bodied, etc.) in addition to providing top-notch customer service and one-on-one attention to detail for every project and every client.

———-

Visit us on the FIRST FRIDAY in February for our Gallery Walk Bloomington opening featuring breathtaking bridal work from Liby Ball. As usual, we’ll have light refreshments, fun music, and a wide variety of handmade items for you to peruse.

Noah Addis / Future Cities
Kai Caemmerer / Unborn Cities
Noah Addis and Kai Caemmerer both photograph the possible structures of our future, and their projects offer starkly different visions of what it might look like. Addis’s “Future Cities” are a study of informal urban development and compacted, self-built communities. Caemmerer’s “Unborn Cities” show looming abstract skyscrapers in spaces void of people.
