PAUSE : encaustic photography by Lisa Wilson:
Bloomington, IN May 17, 2017 — Gather has moved our 250 artists and gallery wall (and classroom space, and studio) across the square to our new permanent home at 116 N. Walnut, snuggled right in between our dear dear friends at Seaview Outfitters and Global Gifts. It is here, in this new home, that we want to take a minute to PAUSE, and reflect on where we’ve come from, where we’ve been, and where we’re headed. It is with that thought that we welcome one of our best friends, Lisa Wilson, to showcase her encaustic photography for the June Gallery Walk. Please join us.
Lisa Wilson is a mixed media artist, inspiring teacher, and doting mother from Bloomington, IN. A self-taught “Awareness Artist”, her work radiates from a background in Pyschology, Yoga and Wellness with a passion for mindfully exploring the magic of mundane life.
With this show, PAUSE, Lisa states, “PAUSE is an invitation to you to move into that awareness along with me, to take a breath, and to be with what is in front of you.” The artwork in PAUSE consists of layers of encaustic (wax) medium, rice paper, and occasional graphite coloring. The results are textural blends of translucent and opaque layers that evoke dream-like and time-word beauty.
Please join us for First Friday on June 2 from 5p-8p for our Opening Reception for PAUSE to meet the artist Lisa Wilson, enjoy her works, and PAUSE for just a moment. PAUSE will be on display through out the month of June – Gather hours in our new location at 116 N. Walnut are Tuesday through Saturday 11a-6p and Sunday 11a-4p. Closed Mondays.
